Sinembargo, despues di e di dos reunion, a bira evidente cu ningun di e topiconan presenta pa e organisacionnan empresarial tabata wordo trata. Ademas, e Prome Minister no a acepta e protocolnan presenta door di e organisacionnan empresarial ni tampoco e sindicatonan laboral.

Pa e motibonan subraya, ATIA ta lamenta e declaracionnan publico di e Prome Minister cu ta sugeri cu e asunto ya a wordo studia y debati ampliamente.

ATIA semper a keda disponibel pa dialogonan constructivo.

ATIA ta apoya medidanan cu ta fortalece e poder di compra y mehora e bienestar di trahadornan. Na mes momento, decisionnan di e forma aki mester ta basa riba informacion transparente, completo y analisis profundo.

ATIA regrets the course of the minimum wage dialogue and the Prime Minister’s public statements

An ATIA representative, together with representatives from two other business organizations, was invited to participate in a social dialogue on March 15. Following the first meeting, it was agreed that the business community, labor unions, and the Government of Aruba would each submit agenda topics and establish clear protocols to govern the dialogue process. This was considered essential to facilitate a constructive discussion and work toward viable solutions.

However, after the second meeting, it became apparent that none of the topics proposed by the business organizations were being addressed. Furthermore, the Prime Minister did not agree with the protocols proposed by either the business organizations or the labor unions.

The establishment of clear protocols is particularly important, as previous consultation processes have demonstrated a tendency for the government to selectively adopt certain outcomes while disregarding others. During the second meeting, the Prime Minister indicated that he would not agree to the proposed protocols and stated that the legislation could be enacted without the input of the business community.

As a result, no substantive dialogue took place, nor were participants provided with any of the studies, analyses, or supporting information underlying the proposed policy. ATIA therefore regrets the Prime Minister’s public statements suggesting that the matter has already been thoroughly studied and debated.

ATIA has always remained open to constructive dialogue. However, meaningful consultation requires genuine engagement among all stakeholders, not a process in which the outcome has effectively been determined before discussions begin.

ATIA supports measures that strengthen purchasing power and improve the well-being of workers. At the same time, such decisions should be informed, transparent, and based on comprehensive data and analysis. Regrettably, throughout these sessions, not a single study, report, or piece of supporting information was presented to participants.
